Travel health and vaccinations
Your clients may be at risk for a number of preventable illnesses when travelling outside Canada. Even a minor illness can ruin a holiday!
You can help prepare your clients for their trip by advising them to:
- check the Travel Health Notices and Travel Advice and Advisories pages for detailed advice for their destination
- prepare and bring a travel health kit
- consult a health care provider or visit a travel health clinic preferably 6 weeks before travel. Even if time is short, an appointment is still worthwhile.
Consulting a health care provider or travel health clinic before travelling gives your clients the opportunity to:
- make sure their routine vaccinations are up-to-date
- discuss other medications, vaccines and precautions that may be recommended, based on their destination, itinerary and personal health history

Visit our travel vaccinations page for more information and to see what vaccinations are recommended for each destination.
