From outside Canada

If your clients require urgent help while outside Canada, they should call their nearest Government of Canada office. Contact information can be found in the “Assistance” section of their destination’s Travel Advice and Advisories page.

While our offices outside Canada are usually closed evenings, weekends and holidays (including some local holidays), Canadians can call at any time if they need emergency help. If the office is closed, the call will be redirected to the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Canada.

At any time, Canadians in need of emergency assistance can get help directly from the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa 24/7:

Consular services are intended for Canadians travelling outside Canada. However, there may come a time when someone in Canada needs to ask for help on behalf of a traveller. In that case, the person in Canada should reach out directly to the Emergency Watch and Response Centre at:

NOTE: As a representative for your client, you can contact us to alert us of a situation they encounter while they travel or to give us updates on a situation. However, due to the Privacy Act, we will not be able to disclose any information to you about your client unless we have their explicit authorization to do so.
