Marie-Claude Villeneuve, Consular Officer in Ramallah

After working in the field of psychoeducation, Marie-Claude decided to change course and pursue an international career. She still helps people daily, but in a different way, as a management and consular officer for Global Affairs Canada in Ramallah.

“Sometimes children find themselves in difficult situations that are beyond their control. When I work on cases involving children, I am at heart a mother and a psychoeducator as well. I find my job most rewarding when I can do something to help them.”

Marie-Claude provides her clients with the information they need to find their own solutions and make informed decisions. She often helps Canadian dual citizens. Recently, she worked to expedite passport applications for Canadians living in the West Bank, which has reduced wait times for her clients.

“When I feel that I have made a difference in the life of a Canadian, or when I contribute to the successful resolution of a problem, I remember just how much I love my job.”

Marie-Claude was previously a consular officer in Miami from 2013 to 2017.

“Whether you are going on a pilgrimage to the Middle East or travelling to Florida with your family, it is very important to be well informed before leaving in order to avoid problems. I always recommend that my clients purchase travel insurance and use the Travel Smart app to keep up on what is going on in the world.”
