About Assistance to Canadians Abroad

Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada provides Canadians abroad with a vast array of consular services, from replacing lost passports and sharing information on local laws to lending support during natural disasters and medical emergencies.

We are ready to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through a network of more than 260 offices in 150 countries. This network includes embassies, consulates, high commissions and other government offices. For a list of the types of offices and levels of service they offer, see Canadian Government Offices Abroad.

Keep in mind that there are limits to the assistance we can offer you. For details on what consular officers can and cannot do for you, see Consular Services.

We welcome your feedback. Please complete our Client Feedback Form to comment on the quality of consular services you receive abroad.

In some regions, you can also obtain assistance from an Australian diplomatic office (through the Canada-Australia Consular Services Sharing Agreement).
